Prosecutors say Angela Smith, 43, pleaded no contest to allegations including starving and abusing a child.

The abuse reportedly happened between 2020 and 2024.

Prosecutors say her co-defendant, Jason Smith, 48, is facing the same charges.


His trial is set for July 29.

An Akron man and woman were sentenced each to 24 to 28 years in prison for severely starving and abusing a child in their care, according to the Summit County Prosecutors’ Office.

The abuse reportedly happened between 2020 and 2024.

43-year-old Angela Smith and 48-year-old Jason Smith both pleaded no contest to the allegations in July.
