A Texas woman was arrested for allegedly leaving a friend to die in a hot car after they had done drugs together the night before.

Ashley Langham, 18, was arrested following the death of David Bradley Dunn. Another friend, Jaelyn Reed, was in critical condition after the two were left in a pickup truck parked outside her home last week, a local ABC affiliate reported Wednesday.

Police believe Langham and a second resident of the home, Dylan Duhon, drove with the two men to buy drugs last Monday night and that Dunn and Reed were passed out in the truck when they arrived back at the residence, according to the station.

After Langham and Duhon allegedly noticed the two still sitting in the pickup truck the next morning, Duhon had Langham drive him to work in another vehicle, leaving them in a hot car for most of the Tuesday, cops said.

Law enforcement officials were called to the residence to find Dunn lying next to the pickup on the ground. Reed was also found at the scene and transported to an area hospital.

The station reported that drugs were found in the residence, though it was not immediately clear what kind. Duhon allegedly told investigators they were taking Xanax.

An arrest affidavit states it’s believed Langham is responsible for leaving the men in the hot truck — and that’s what led to Dunn’s death.

She has been charged with criminally negligent homicide and has been released after posting her $8,000 bond, according to the report.

Duhon faces charges of drug possession.

Why are they charging her for the decisions of grown ass adults who didn't want to get out of the car or were too fucked up to get out after willingly taking drugs? If they wanted to get out they could, she couldn't have dragged them out or carried them into the house. I think at that point they would be on their own. But, then again, I don't even play a defense attorney on TV.

So they are charging her for negligent homicide, when it is apparent they could leave the vehicle.

From the article "Dunn lying on the ground next to the vehicle" Its not like they were a disabled person, elderly or a child. They were drugged up idiots. Honestly don't see this case being pursued

These idiots left a big trail of evidence for police.

Three charges of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance were filed against Ashley Langham, 19, for Hydrocodone, Xanax and Marijuana, after the initial autopsy results show that Dunn died from an overdose. The toxicology report is pending at this time.

Langham was arrested Thursday, Oct. 29 with a bond of $34,000. Her bond was posted Friday, Oct. 30 and she was released.

This is the second time Langham has been arrested with regard to this case. The first time for negligent homicide.

Dylan Duhon, 19, Langham’s live-in boyfriend at the time Dunn’s death, has also been charged with negligent homicide along with two felony and one misdemeanor charges for possession of drugs in relation to Dunn’s death.

According to arrest affidavits and interviews with the Houston County Sheriff, Duhon and Langham had taken Dunn and Jaylen Reed, 17, of Palestine, to Houston July 13 to purchase drugs.

The arrest affidavit states that pictures on SnapChat and Facebook both show Duhon, Langham, Dunn and Reed traveling to Houston to purchase drugs, showing a large amount of money and coming back from Houston showing the drugs they had purchased.

Dunn and Reed were in the back seat of the truck and deputies believe they were passed out when they arrived at the home in Grapeland. They believe that Duhon and/or Langham moved the drugs into the home they were renting and hid them in a cabinet in the washroom.

Langham also went to work leaving Dunn and Reed passed out all day in a hot vehicle on Rockhill Road. According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the high from noon until 10 p.m. July 14 was 98 degrees.

When Duhon returned home from work, he called 911 after finding them still in the vehicle unresponsive. The 911 operator told Duhon to take Dunn out of the truck and place him on the ground, but he was already dead. Reed was also removed from the vehicle.

Reed was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Tyler. He was treated and released but is still in recovery at this time.

Duhon consented to a search of the home and officers located a brown paper bag filled with approximately 69 grams of marijuana, approximately 160 grams of Alprazolam (Xanax) and approximately 10 grams of Hydrocodone pills.

Criminally negligent homicide charges against Dylan Duhon and Ashley Langham in the hot vehicle death of David Dunn have been dropped, according to Houston County District Attorney Donna Gordon Kaspar.

Duhon plead guilty, however, to the possession of a controlled substance, a second degree felony, Jan. 4, accepting a 10-year deferred adjudication sentence.

Duhon and Langham were charged with possession of the drugs and criminally negligent homicide after Duhon discovered Dunn deceased in his vehicle July 14, 2020 in Grapeland.

Kaspar said the plea came after her office determined Duhon removed a bag of drugs from the vehicle and hid them in his home after discovering Dunn and before law enforcement arrived. Deputies later found the drugs in his laundry room.

“The criminally negligent homicide was dismissed upon his plea to the possession charge,” Kaspar said. “Since the drugs were accessible to Mr. Dunn before Mr. Duhon returned and found him, I could not, with any certainty, determine when Mr. Dunn overdosed on the drugs and thus could not show that Mr. Duhon was negligent in leaving him in his vehicle that morning when he left for work.”

Langham’s said charges were dismissed upon Duhon’s plea since she was not present when he hid the drugs in their home.
