The parents of a newborn baby who tested positive for fentanyl at birth were arrested and charged following an investigation by the Spartanburg County Department of Social Services.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday, Feb. 13, that its Special Victims Unit concluded its investigation the week prior into the parents, Brittany Christina Estepp, 29, and Marcus Wayne Anaya Ashby, 29.
During an interview with Estepp, officials said she admitted to using "roxy" after she found out she was pregnant until the time her methadone "kicked in." Also during the interview, she said those pills "must have been laced with fentanyl" because she said she does not use fentanyl.
