A 25-year-old Lubbock man was indicted Tuesday in connection with the assault of a 1-year-old girl, who was taken to the emergency room on Sept. 11 for severe brain injury that doctors believe was non-accidental.

Malcom Dixon-White is charged with a first-degree felony count of aggravated assault involving domestic violence, a deadly weapon and serious bodily injury.

The warrant states Dixon admitted to detectives to knocking the girl off a couch multiple times, dropping her and hitting her with a shoe or a flip-flop.

Lubbock police began a child abuse investigation after responding to a call at UMC where doctors discovered injuries on the girl they believed were consistent with child abuse, the warrant states.

A CPS affidavit also states the girl was covered in bruises when she arrived at the hospital emergency room. A bruise on her forehead had a straight edge pattern that indicated she was struck with an object, the affidavit states.

The girl's injuries required surgery that her surgeon described as "intense," saying the girl was "fighting for her life," the affidavit states.

The surgeon told a detective that the girl suffered bleeding in her brain, which also had damaged veins, and blood clots that impeded her breathing, the warrant states.

The CPS affidavit states doctors found substantial evidence of physical abuse resulting in injuries including abnormal bruising, bleeding and swelling in the brain and bleeding in the eye.

An MRI showed the right side of her brain was severely injured.

The girl underwent multiple surgeries and she was listed in critical condition a week after she was brought to the hospital.

The surgeon told the detective he was uncertain the girl would survive and believed the injuries were consistent with a "shaken baby," the warrant states.

Doctors believe she will suffer a lifetime of health complications, the affidavit states.

The girl's mother told police she lived with her sister and Dixon, who is her sister's boyfriend. The couple also has a 2-year-old daughter.

The girl's mother said Dixon and her sister look after her daughter when she goes to work.

She said her sister fetched her from work that night and to the store. While at the store, she said she saw two missed calls from Dixon, which she returned. She said Dixon told her that they needed to come home immediately to go to the emergency room.

She said Dixon told her that her daughter wasn't waking up, saying she fell off the couch backwards while fighting over a blanket with her cousin.

The girl's mother told a detective that she didn't know what caused her daughter's severe injuries other than the fall that Dixon told her about.

She said one of the bruises on her daughter came from a fall three days before when she tripped over a block and she hit her head. Another bruise she said came from her daughter slipping in the bathtub, according to the warrant.

She said she has asked her sister and Dixon about her daughter's other bruises and was told they came from climbing and falling. She said she recently looked up potential causes for the bruising and learned about blood diseases. She said didn't believe that her sister or Dixon would hurt her daughter, the warrant states.

However, in a Sept. 12 interview with detectives, Dixon reportedly admitted to knocking the girl off the couch with a pillow multiple times. He also admitted to throwing the girl onto the couch and that he "popped" her with a shoe and a flip-flop, the warrant states.

He said he also dropped her on the floor while dancing with her.

In the affidavit, Dixon reportedly told police he dropped the girl on the floor and when he picked her up, her eyes rolled back and she became unresponsive.

Dixon reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana while watching over the girl and his daughter, the affidavit states.

Dixon's girlfriend told detectives that she is scared of Dixon, saying he does not like the girl, the warrant states.

Dixon remains held at the Lubbock County Detention Center. His bail is set at $300,000.

That literally explains nothing. Hoping you’re jk, although not slightly funny.
What explains everything is the statement that he didn’t like the girl and admitted to abusing her.
Not rocket science.
I was talking about what he said , not what the idiots he lived with said .
I find your lack of comprehension sad .

It's sarcasm , ask an adult to explain it to you
I’m perfectly capable of understanding sarcasm for fucks sake
There happen to be many people that DO believe smoking marijuana is a factor in child abuse. So I’m SORRRRRRYYYY that I missed your hilarious :penguin: sarcasm. No need to get your panties all in a wad.

Btw, you’re boring me so please don’t reply.

I hope when he is in the jail that someone twice his size wants to “dance” with him and gives him a proper crush and a good drop! I think that his violence would exist with or without the drugs. He is a real life monster who picks a small , defenseless child as his victim and then tries to explain it away with the famous “fell off the couch”! He’s not fit for life in society!

Malcolm Dixon, who is accused of seriously injuring a one-year-old, has been found guilty of aggravated assault causing bodily harm.

Dixon was arrested in 2020 after reportedly throwing the infant into a wall. The baby was left with severe brain damage and cannot walk, talk or eat.
