Teen Girls Stole and Tortured Cat; His Body Was Later Returned in a Trash Can

On February 28, a 12-year-old cat named Ginger was resting on the porch of his owner’s home when a group of what appeared to be females grabbed him and carried him away. What followed was horrifying. Social media video later revealed the beautiful senior cat being tortured; his body completely shaved, cut, and bruised. The disturbing incident was shared on Snapchat, prompting the Greer Police Department and Spartanburg County Animal Control to open an investigation.

Ginger was owned and loved by Maggie McClinton, who is devastated by the cruel situation. McClinton said, “Ya’ll don’t know what ya’ll took from me. He knew he was loved. He was here every morning when I left for work, every afternoon when I got back from work and he didn’t leave the porch very often.”

A friend of McClinton’s shared the following information in a public Facebook post, writing:

They chose to come onto her property without permission, taking the cat, putting him into a cardboard box, and leaving down the street. There is video evidence of them leaving with him in the cardboard box. There is further video evidence of one person holding Ginger down, shaving his fur off, cussing every other word all the while bragging on her actions as the other person filming was hysterically laughing. The cat’s deceased, shaved body was then returned to my friend in a trash can. There are also photographs to support this claim. My friend is having to bury her cat, that did not simply pass – he was tortured.

The Greer Police Department and Spartanburg County Animal Control have confirmed to Animal Victory that an animal cruelty investigation has been opened and they are working together. Ginger’s body is being sent away for a necropsy to determine his cause of death.

What we know: Ginger was taken by females or juveniles who proceeded to record themselves shaving all of his fur off. He was returned to his owner in a trash can, wrapped in a towel, nearly a week later. His body was not only shaved but had evidence of widespread bruising.

the cruelty of those kids isn't only for the fur baby.... imagine bringing that poor tortured and dead fur baby to it's 2 legged mom the pain she had to deal with seeing her poor fur baby in that condition... i those girls only wanted to hurt (torture) a defenseless cat they would have buried the poor baby's body but NO they had to inflict more pain on it's mom grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr they knew exactly what they were doing and by the looks of the poor fur baby it seems recently deceased so they torture that poor innocent baby for days and also inflicted torture to it's poor 2 legged mom....if they didn't want to further their cruelty they would have buried it's body and spare it's human mom the agony it would have been way less cruel if the "mom" had the hopes that someone else wanted ginger so badly they stole her and was given her the love and attention she deserves... it would have still be painful for her but not torture as those kids inflicted about it's human mom............ grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr my gosh sometime i am very grateful i am old as the world seems to be worse and worse with younger kids committing atrocious acts ...... my gosh if someone did half of what they did that cat on my fur baby i would be more than tempted to hunt each of those kids one at a time , kidnap them (all the while they would be blindfolded) and inflict pain on them for a few days then drop them off where i had kidnapped them... kidnap one release her then wait till the other two would feel safe and go for the next one ........ the last kid would sure know what emotional torture is really like while waiting for her turn to be kidnapped.......

I just can’t imagine my child or Grands doing that to any animal !! What, Why would you do that!! That’s just insane! I would have a difficult time restraining myself if I knew someone who did that!! That’s evil, I feel like those are people that have a mental disorder, defects or illness! I don’t know if that can be fixed ! I sure would not want to be near them!
