Boarders should avoid bumping old threads without adding any new substantive information about the case or subject matter of the thread beyond, "this is so sad". We all know it's sad.
People should avoid posting like that at any time. We all know it's sad/bad/ugly/whatever. Pointing out the obvious isn't needed.

That being said, I don't feel like you should ONLY post if you have an actual update, as @navsec said. I think that anything useful, like ideas or questions, is also completely OK.

If you or anyone else are annoyed with any other user, you can always just set them on ignore. No need to be an asshole.

:blackeye: I'll take a black eye. Sometimes I have an "OMG so sad" or something. I know it's obvious. Sometimes I just have to get it out. It's not like I can do anything about a murdered baby, but sometimes no matter how old, the first time I read about some of these cases, I have to say something.

Of course, Rockin, but i was thinking more at the folks that that's almost the only contribution they ever have. Expanding on why it's that way to them would offer more than repeating the same sentiment over and over - it must get boring to type it over and over, if nothing else.

Yes, I kinda remember this issue being brought up before now. In fact I think it was quoted in someone's sig for a while IIRC.

As the Dear Leaderess of D'D I prohibit squabbling in my kingdom:angelic:! Only I am allowed to squabble:joyful:...with my alternate personalities:D. Is there going to be a hair-pulling, bitch-slapping squabble:woot:? I'ma go bump a thread and get in on the fun!:smug: More coffee; should I get the popcorn?

If I didn't know you better cb, I'd ask you to marry me... :D

I like seeing some of the old threads bumped. Rereading comments is a blast and I often forget where some of the best are.

I tend to agree with navsec. Can't stop her from doing it, but it is pretty annoying. But who am I to say, I'm a noob.

I like cruising the past crimes and missing persons, then doing a search to see if anything is new on the cases. It keeps me out of trouble for a while. Now! get back to squabbling; I have a new pot of coffee and herbal cigarettes...I need to be entertained or I WILL get into some kind of trouble. Get to it hoes and man hoes!

A quick internet search yielded these results.

You're welcome @navsec

The grandparents of an 8-year-old boy allegedly tortured and beaten to death by his mother and her boyfriend have filed a legal claim against multiple agencies and employees they say failed to protect their grandson from abuse.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Gabriel Fernandez was tortured by his mother’s boyfriend, 32-year-old Isauro Aguirre, and suffered a broken skull and ribs. Cigarette burns and bruises were found on the boy’s body, along with abrasions on his ankles and pellets from a BB gun lodged in his lungs and groin. He died on May 24.

The complaint alleges a “breach of mandatory duties” on the part of DCFS and the fraud investigator, who was a mandated reporter with a moral obligation to report the suspected abuse after he was called to the home to investigate.

Instead, the complaint alleges, the investigator called Pearl Fernandez the next day and asked her out on a date.

Relatives, teachers and other mothers at Fernandez's school told officials the signs of child abuse were obvious, yet the boy remained in the unsafe environment since October, when Pearl won custody of him from her parents.

Fernandez had previously written a note contemplating suicide, his teacher told authorities he appeared bruised and battered at school, bruises from BB pellets were evident on his face, his therapist submitted a complaint in late March that the boy had been forced to perform oral sex on a relative and a referral to conduct an investigation into child abuse at the home lingered two months past deadline. Says the Times, "The social worker assigned to that case did not make first contact with the family until 20 days after the complaint was received, and then 'made minimal attempts to investigate,' according to an internal county report." Every investigation except for one was determined "unfounded."

Pearl's history with the department goes back at least 10 years, when her oldest son, wearing no seat belt, suffered a head injury in a car accident. A report surfaced a year later that Pearl was beating the son and no longer wished to care for him, but the complaint was "unfounded." Pearl also told social workers of her history of gang involvement, drug use and mental problems. Another complaint surfaced in 2007 that she was starving one of her daughters and threatened to break the girl's jaw for crying. She also spent time in jail in Texas for using a weapon in a reckless manner.

Four social workers have been placed on desk duty and await possible disciplinary action, and the department has fallen under heavy criticism.

Child protective case workers responded to the home at least eight times after repeated abuse reports, according to several people who knew the child and from department documents obtained by NBC4. Their visit before his death was for an allegation of sexual abuse, documents said.

The maternal grandparents of an 8-year-old boy tortured and killed allegedly by his mother and her boyfriend have taken the first steps to file a wrongful death lawsuit against several Los Angeles County agencies, including the one tasked with investigating reports of abuse in the household.

The lawsuit seeking unspecified damages claims that child welfare workers illegally removed Gabriel Fernandez from his grandparent’s home, where he lived most of his short life, to his mother’s custody; and failed to fully investigate more than 60 reports of abuse.

When Gabriel was a month old, his mother – the boy’s sole living biological parent – turned over custody to her parents, “stating that she did not want Gabriel and had no love for the child,” the lawsuit reads.

Some 64 reports of abuse were relayed to DCFS by family members, teachers and neighbors concerning Gabriel.

Eight separate investigations into possible abuse were opened for the family -- which includes two siblings to Gabriel -- starting in 2003, according to court documents.

Pearl Fernandez had another child removed from her home for alleged abuse, according to the lawsuit.

Those investigations, the lawsuit alleges, only involved meetings with Pearl Fernandez, and did not include any private individual interviews with Gabriel or physical exams to assure he wasn’t abused.

Four unnamed social workers -- two of them supervisors -- are also defendants in the lawsuit. And an investigator with the LA County Department of Public Social Services is specifically named.

Tasked with investigating Pearl Fernandez’s allegations that her parents were using their custody of Gabriel for money, Javier Cruz visited the Palmdale home where he learned of the boy’s injuries, including a burn on his foot, the lawsuit reads.

Cruz is accused of not reporting those injuries, and instead, calling Pearl Fernandez the following day and asking her out on a date.

Four DCFS workers who examined repeated complaints of abuse in the household will be discharged after an investigation into the 8-year-old’s death.

ETA: I forgot to add. This may be Pearl's FB page. I'm not that great at sleuthing. Can anyone confirm or debunk? If it isn't hers I don't wanna keep it posted.
