A 14-year-old boy was run over and killed by a woman in her 20’s who herself sustained a gunshot wound following a physical altercation with the teen, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies learned that the female driver and the teenage boy had gotten into a physical altercation just minutes before the boy was run over. Authorities say that the driver of the vehicle is believed to have been involved in the initial confrontation.

“At some point, shots were fired toward the driver, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. “The woman, in her early twenties, was transported to the Citrus Park Emergency Room, where she is currently in critical condition.”

The 14-year-old boy died after being struck by the vehicle but it is unclear whether he died at the scene of the incident or if he was taken to hospital.

It is not currently known if the two people involved in the incident knew each other but the case is still under active investigation and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has asked anyone with information to contact them regarding the case.

No way to know the fuck was going on with this one yet. If the fight occurred first, it's hard not to assume the kid might have been trying to perpetrate a crime, such as a carjacking perhaps? Seems clear that we at the very least had a 14 year old kid walking around the streets with a gun....hard to surmise he wasn't up to no good.

Jose Ortiz was charged and acquitted on all charges.

A Tampa jury in the Jose Ortiz murder trial has just handed down its verdict: Not guilty on all counts.
Ortiz was accused of causing a chain of events that led to the death of his 14-year-old nephew, Jason Lopez. But a jury didn’t buy it and acquitted him of all charges.

Prosecutor say the tragedy unfolded on Super Bowl Sunday in 2021. Carmen Montero was delivering a pizza at a Super Bowl party at an apartment complex in Carrollwood.
There was a confrontation at the door between Montero and others at the party. Prosecutor say Montero left and then return to the apartment to continue fighting.

During the brawl, Montero got in her Lexus and tried to leave, and that’s when they say Ortiz pulled out a gun and shot Montero in the neck. The wheels on the car began spinning, and the vehicle veered to the right, striking the child and pinning him underneath the vehicle.
Montero survived her injuries and was supposed to testify, but she never showed up. The defense blamed her for instigating the whole thing and causing the child’s death, not Ortiz.

Late Thursday afternoon, the jury agreed, and Ortiz left the courthouse a free man.

Carmen Montero was never charged as she was treated as a victim.
