A former Pennsylvania police officer is accused of molesting a 15-year-old girl he met when responding to her attempted suicide.
An investigation into William E. Sublett IV — who has since resigned — began in December when the girl reported the accusations to her guidance counselor at Waynesboro High School, according to an affidavit.
The teen recalled meeting Sublett, 33, when he responded to her home a year earlier in December 2019 for a reported suicide attempt.
The officer later asked the teen for nude photos and then fondled her breasts and genitals without her consent at his home in November, state trooper Erica Polcha wrote in the affidavit.
Some of the alleged sexual abuse took place while Sublett was supposed to be on-duty, Polcha added.
A search of a cellphone investigators said Sublett bought for the girl revealed he asked her for explicit photos after she sent him an image of a sex toy in November, according to state police.
“You look amazing, you have no idea,” the former officer allegedly wrote the teen in other messages. “You have no idea the things I could do to you.”
Sublett also asked the teen if there was “any chance” of him getting to see her “body in person,” according to the affidavit.
State police said Sublett apologized when the teen balked at his request for graphic photos of her, but he kept suggesting how sexual contact between the pair “would occur,” Polcha wrote.
He is now facing charges of indecent assault, corruption of minors and aggravated indecent assault, PennLive.com reported.
The former officer allegedly insisted he was a “role model figure” for the teen during an interview with investigators on Dec. 10, claiming her mother had asked him to occasionally check on her.
