Two men were busted for rubbing a dirty diaper on an independent, conservative reporter’s face and attacking her during a Black Lives Matter rally in Madison Square Park last month, according to authorities and police sources.

Tara Anne Szczepanski, 33, was filming the rally around noon Jan. 10 when a group shoved her around, hit her on the head with an egg and knocked her cellphone to the ground with an umbrella, cops and the sources said.

The caught-on-video scuffle continued as Szczepanski ran from the group, cops said.

She was sprayed with silly string and whacked with a skateboard before someone rubbed a used baby diaper on her face, video shows.

Saqunn Jackson, 23, of University Heights, was arrested late Tuesday afternoon and charged with aggravated harassment and stalking. Jackson was released under supervision, court documents show.

Juarde Benn, 20, of Flatbush, was busted Friday in connection to the attack and charged with attempted assault, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and stalking, according to police. He was released on his own recognizance.

Szczepanski, who has previously participated in beauty pageants, describes herself on LinkedIn as an independent reporter and social media journalist.

Saquan Jackson involved in the assault of a reporter received a sentence of a one-year conditional discharge. [1]

Case Details
  • The Incident: Jackson was arrested and charged following the assault of a reporter in New York.
  • The Plea: He pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court of Bronx County to a reduced charge of assault in the third degree.
  • The Sentence: On March 3, 2023, Judge Martin Marcus sentenced him to the one-year conditional discharge.
  • The Appeal: Jackson later attempted to appeal the ruling, citing a speedy trial claim. However, on December 11, 2025, the New York Appellate Division unanimously affirmed the original judgment, ruling that his previous waiver of appeal rights was fully valid and voluntary.

No available update on Benn.
