A criminal complaint filed against Dubois states that the victim told troopers that Dubois was holding her against her will and that he had sexually assaulted her, stabbed her in the leg and bit her “all over her body.” She also showed troopers a bite mark in her upper breast area, which troopers said “looked fresh.”
Troopers said they then conducted a Mirandaized interview with Dubois, who admitted to holding the victim against her will and sexually assaulting her. He told troopers that “he knew she did not want to have sex.” He was then transported to the West Virginia State Police Grafton Detachment for further questioning.
While at the detachment, troopers conducted another Mirandaized interview with Dubois, the complaint said. During that interview, Dubois told troopers that he had illegally entered the United States on foot by crossing the border from Canada into the State of Washington. He then “took a series of buses and a Lyft” to get to the victim’s residence in Ohio.
Read complete articleDubois said that once he got to the victim’s house, he planned to pick the lock, but found that it was unlocked. He said that he then “hid in the residence attic and basement for approximately 2 days before attacking the victim” while she was alone, the complaint said.
Dubois said that he threatened and hurt the victim and made her leave with him in her vehicle. He told troopers that he “did not have a destination, he just wanted to be with her.” He added that he hurt the victim when she attempted to escape or declined to have sex with him.
Dubois has been charged with kidnapping in Taylor County as well as second-degree sexual assault, first-degree sexual abuse, malicious assault and kidnapping in Harrison County. Officer said that additional charges against him are also pending both federally and in Ohio.
