Florida Man Arrested On Animal Cruelty Charges After Tying Dog Inside Flooded Doghouse

An Immokalee man was arrested and charged with animal cruelty on Wednesday morning.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office arrested Romeo Gabriel-Lopez, 43, for failing to give his dog Robo adequate shelter and illegally tethering him.

On Wednesday, June 12, it was pouring rain and Robo, a young bully terrier, sat inside a flooded doghouse tied to a pole.

When detectives arrived at Gabriel-Lopez’s home, Robo's doghouse was flooded with one to two feet of water.

Gabriel-Lopez was not home, but detectives contacted him by phone. He agreed to surrender Robo.

Robo is now in need of a new home. The dog is with SNIP Collier, which writes:

This handsome boy is looking for a foster or forever home. He is approximately 2-3 years old, dog friendly with proper introductions. After the life he has already endured we are so thrilled to be a part of his journey to the forever life he so deserves.
