A Canadian couple who purchased a supermarket's entire supply of meat and 'bragged' about it while checking out, are now claiming that they are living in fear after receiving numerous death threats.

Dan Marcotte and his girlfriend were captured on video by customer, Taylor Born, stockpiling on several types of meat at the Save On Foods in Lake Country last weekend.

The video shows the couple standing in the checkout line with two shopping carts full of meat at a time when millions of people have flooded stores to stock up on essentials amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Born told Kelowna Now that Marcotte and his girlfriend 'ran in front of other customers, cutting them off to take every last item'.

She claimed they even 'bragged' to everyone about wiping out the stock and leaving 'nothing left for anyone to get'.

Marcotte, who owns the Dan-Mel moving company, has since spoken out about the incident and blamed it on panic-buying amid the coronavirus outbreak that has seen thousands of people in the US and other countries flock to grocery stores and wipe out items like toilet tissue, paper towels and sanitizers.

Everybody knows who I am, because I put myself out there, (now) I'm getting death threats and I don't answer the phone so I'm losing business. My own mother is ashamed of me,' Marcotte told news site, Vancouver Is Awesome.

Marcotte said he has also donated $1,000 to the Lake Country Food Bank after the incident.

He called the stockpiling a 'mistake' after he got caught up in the anxiety surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

'If me and my girlfriend had done this two months ago nobody would say a bloody word. We're getting crucified for buying two carts of meat. We might have gone overboard, but we didn't push people or laugh at anyone.

'I'm not feeling safe, and me and my girlfriend are scared.'

The video of Marcotte and his girlfriend has since been removed from Facebook.

"I'm not feeling safe, and me and my girlfriend are scared."....just like everyone who came in to shop that day and saw this bullshit going down? And what good is a $1k donation gonna do when there isn't a damn thing in the stores to buy because of people like him?
I do like that his mom is ashamed of him....probably didn't share with her. This virus even got the Canadians acting ugly.

Sickening parasites.
Hope their place is robbed...repeatedly.

A shameful pair who have made their own bed.
Every store needs a sign at the front...
We reserve the right to limit quantities purchased.
It would stop this crap cold.

Would never let hoarders back in to the store ever!

I went to a local grocery store yesterday and the chicken cooler was empty, a woman standing beside me started bitching about it, what kind of store is this to not have chicken, I couldn't resist and told her blame the doomsday preppers, obviously the chicken would be in the cooler if they had some because that's what they do sell stuff, you know.

I went to Costco here and they have everything, only one item per person on most items, but they are stocked, so was Safeway. Maybe an issue with trucking routes or something like that, don’t understand the difference in supplies
I didn’t even bother buying TP, now that they’ve restricted the amount per purchase seems there’s plenty for everyone

I know this may seem silly, but I actually bought a breadmaker at the beginning of this... because bread is always hoarded. Took a bit to find some flower, but I'm set now.
I bought a 30lb sack of flour, been making pizza and bread and 16oz container of yeast

It depends on the warehouse allotments. Wholesale stores don’t have to deal with those, only retail grocery stores.

This city (not really a city - more of a district) is SUPER close to where I am.

It;s very small. Mostly farming/orchards etc. People who are seniors or just working to survive. College kids.

I'm glad they feel like crap over this. Totally deserve it!

There are many other stores very close (Kelowna is like 15 minutes away and has all the big stores including Costco) but people don't always have the option to go to other places. I wonder if this is their local store, or if they came into LC to do this and hope no one knew who they were?? Glad someone got it on video!
