A baby girl was clinging to life Saturday after allegedly being punched in the head by a Bronx man, police said.

Jerome Thomas, 19, was hit with first-degree assault and child endangerment charges for allegedly slamming his closed fist into the one-year-old’s head inside a Woodstock apartment around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, cops said.

When police responded to a call about someone needing help, they allegedly found Thomas, a 25-year-old woman and the battered baby, who was semi-conscious, authorities said Saturday.
The infant was taken to Harlem Hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.
Thomas pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court Saturday, where a judge ordered him remanded without bail.

A neighbor said the mother and the "Baby Boy" she was dating were new to the building and fought everyday with the mom putting his clothes out but taking him back.

Jerome Thomas, 19, was arrested in New York last week after he punched Imani-Dior Monique Mitchell, the 1-year-old daughter of his girlfriend LeNesha Mitchell, 25, multiple times. “She [LeNesha] came back and found her daughter in a weird position not responsive and wrapped with covers,”. “She even called the cops from his [Jerome] phone. He was refusing to do it and kept her [LeNesha's] phone from her and kept trying to snatch the baby and kept saying she was OK and that she was asleep.” When police responded to a call about someone needing help, they discovered the child's face and head to be badly swollen, especially around a bruised left eye. The baby was semi-conscious and struggling to breathe. The girl was forced to undergo surgery to remove a piece of her skull. Thomas was charged by the New York Police Department with first-degree assault and child endangerment for allegedly using his closed fist to strike the child. Thomas ordered held without bail.

Praying that this little Chocolate Drop gets better
I've been calling Black & Brown babies "Chocolate Drops" since high school, I graduated in 1988, including my new great nephew. Every now and then it offends someone. And I don't care. It's said in love and squishiness and if you have a problem with love OR squishiness, YOU'RE the problem! :shame:

That’s what I’ve called my oldest niece since she was born. She’s now 19, and I’m still wrapping my head around her being all grown up.

Mine are 30, 29 in a week and 23. The nephew is turned 21 in January... Argh! :bigtears:
My oldest nephew’s 15, tall, with facial hair and a deeper than the ocean voice, Jacob’s fixing to be six, and my second oldest nephew will be 8, and my second oldest niece (Jacob’s cousin) is 3, and she’s FUCKN TALL! And adorable; she too, has autism. I love my babies, bio and bonus. I’m fixing to have allergy eye leakage. It’s allergies, I swear lol.

When my 2nd niece was about two she suddenly screamed "Hootie!!!" when her Mom's coworker came to the house for a football game. We all thought that was pretty damn observant of her since Tony did look A LOT like Darius Rucker, only maybe five years older than the real Darius is. Nah, about a year later we figured out that she was calling all Black male adults "Hootie"... It was still pretty damn adorable! :shame:

One-year-old Imani-Dior Monique Mitchell died Friday from injuries allegedly inflicted by Jerome Thomas, 19, on Aug. 28 while the baby’s mom was out getting groceries.
