Evan Stevenson, 24, was again charged with endangering the welfare of children after police received a report that he abused a 6-year-old boy.

Stevenson was also charged with simple assault and harassment Monday by Rochester police.

Police received a ChildLine report Sept. 4 about someone who had squeezed the boy’s head, causing bruising to both temples and ears. An officer spoke with the Rochester Area School District nurse, who said the boy had marks on him that looked as if someone had grabbed his face.

“The child told her that someone squeezed his head and then stated that it was Evan,” according to the police report. “The child also stated that Evan will be mad.”

Stevenson told a Beaver County Children and Youth Services worker that he didn’t recall grabbing the boy, police reported. Stevenson said the child had fallen and hit his head.

The boy told the CYS worker that Stevenson had grabbed him by the face, according to the police report.

Police interviewed the boy’s mother on Oct. 31. The mother said that she worked long shifts over the weekend of the alleged abuse and that Stevenson was responsible for caring for the children.

The mother said Stevenson and the boy told her that the boy was messing with the diaper box when he fell and hit his head. However, the mother said she knew the boy told the nurse and his father the story about Stevenson grabbing his face, police said.

Stevenson was charged with endangering the welfare of children in October after a small child in his care was found wandering the streets in near-freezing temperatures. He waived the right to a preliminary hearing in that case in November.
