An Amber Alert has been issued for 6-week-old Shanally Flores. Shanally is 30 inches and weighs 20 pounds. She is believed to be Honduran and possibly black or mixed race origin. Authorities have found the girl's birth certificate and corrected her age to only 6 weeks old.

After the girl went missing, authorities believed she might have been with her father, but he has been located in San Antonio and the girl remains missing. HPD says the father stated he was not involved in the murder of the woman.

Anyone with information on the missing child is asked to call HPD at 713-308-3600.

Presumably, that is a photo of the sperm donor, Thomas Bernardez. The murdered mom is not named nor is she pictured, at least at this link.

Carolina Flores - mother

[....]

The mother, Carolina Flores, moved to the states from Honduras about 5 years ago in search for a better life.

"Hard-working woman, hard-working came from nothing. Came out here to provide for her kids and to get something out of life because in Honduras there's nothing. She came out here to get something," said her cousin, Jenny Lopez.

Family members say Flores worked at a local hotel and was also a caregiver.

Lopez says she had an inkling something was wrong. She says after Flores had her baby girl in November, she began to act differently and wouldn't talk about the baby's father. Lopez says she appeared afraid, but wouldn't go to police because she was in the country illegally.

... if the father killed her and has the kid... at six weeks old?

I don't think they'll find her alive. :pout:

You guys...

Authorities say a Houston woman who recently suffered a miscarriage killed an acquaintance and kidnapped her infant to pass off as her own child.

An Amber Alert for 6-week-old Shamali Flores was discontinued after she was found in a Houston apartment early Thursday morning. Police said she appeared to be unharmed but was taken to a hospital to be evaluated as a precaution.

Police arrested Erika Jisela Miranda-Alvarez, 28, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Shamali's mother, 33-year-old Carolina Flores. She faces a charge of capital murder.

The father had nothing to do with it.

I had a feeling we were dealing with a womb raider ngl.
Especially given the age of the baby a practical newborn.
This is another reason I hated being pregnant.

HOUSTON - The person who abducted a 6-week-old girl after her mother was fatally stabbed in her Houston apartment likely knew the infant's family and might even be a woman who has recently lost a child, police said Wednesday.

The possibility Shamali Flores might have been taken by someone who's lost a child is still only a theory, but the circumstances of the infant's disappearance fit similar cases that have taken place in other parts of the country

Investigators on Wednesday continued speaking with Carolina Flores' family and neighbors and planned to use bloodhounds to search the woman's apartment complex.

Douglas Williams, the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI's Houston office, said his agency's Child Abduction Rapid Deployment team is on the ground in Houston helping with the search.

"We are not going to stop searching ... because the Flores family deserves to have Shamali in their hands. She deserves to have a life with her family," Acevedo said.

A prosecutor read police statements that said what they believe had happened. When Miranda-Alvarez was questioned, she admitted to kidnapping the victim's six-week-old daughter Shamali Flores.
The prosecutor also said Miranda-Alvarez admitted to detectives that she had taken three medical wristbands belonging to Carolina Flores and her baby, as well as the victim's cell phone, but denied killing the victim. Police found a pair of scissors near the victim's body but say it was unclear as to whether or not that was the murder weapon.
Police also say Miranda-Alvarez had recently suffered a miscarriage and that they believe that was her reason for kidnapping the baby.

She is facing capital murder possible death penalty.. that was 2017.. I couldn't find an update.. anyone?

A Houston woman who killed a friend and kidnapped the victim’s newborn baby was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Tuesday, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced.
“This was a premeditated murder and kidnapping that should have never happened,” Ogg said. “I wish there was a way to undo all the harm and pain that this defendant inflicted on others, but all we can do is work to ensure that she spends decades in prison for her actions.”
Erika Miranda-Alvarez, 35, pleaded guilty to murder for fatally stabbing 33-year-old Carolina Flores-Miranda and kidnapping the woman’s newborn baby on Dec. 19, 2017.
Family members found the victim’s body in her Aldine-area apartment and realized the baby was missing, setting off an exhaustive two-day search by multiple law enforcement agencies.

Officers found the child with Miranda-Alvarez at her apartment complex more than 30 miles from the murder scene.
Miranda-Alvarez had also recently been pregnant at the same time but had a miscarriage. Law enforcement officials said when she was arrested that she apparently killed her friend to take the victim’s 6-week-old baby to raise it as her own. She had been a friend of the victim’s family for several years.

When Houston Police Department detectives questioned her, Miranda-Alvarez initially admitted only to kidnapping, claiming that she went to the victim’s apartment and saw that her friend was dead so she took the baby.
Assistant District Attorney Casey Smith, who is assigned to the Homicide Division of the District Attorney’s Office, prosecuted the case and said Miranda-Alvarez planned out the crime, including telling a friend days before the murder that she had her baby.

“She knew what she was doing was wrong, and we know that from what she said to people and what she did, including dumping the victim’s cellphone in the toilet tank,” Smith said.
Miranda-Alvarez must serve at least half of the prison sentence before she will be eligible for parole. She cannot appeal the conviction or the sentence.
