A 26-year-old mother of four is dead and her former boyfriend is facing charges in a fatal shooting that authorities say happened inside her home while her young children were present.
According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, officers responded to a deadly shooting involving Hannah Jackson, who family members describe as a devoted mother who had recently left an abusive relationship.
Police say Jackson’s ex-boyfriend, David Ivy, is accused of shooting her multiple times inside her residence. Investigators allege Ivy used a door code he was not authorized to have in order to enter the home.
Family members told FOX 17 News that Jackson’s two youngest children were inside the home at the time of the shooting, including a 20-month-old and a 4-year-old. Relatives say Ivy later took the children and brought them to their mother after she had been shot.
“He unloaded his weapon on my daughter. She had no shot, no chance,” Jackson’s mother, Danielle Jackson, said in an interview with FOX 17 News.
Danielle Jackson also said her daughter had recently moved into a new home after leaving what the family described as an abusive relationship, and was focused on raising her children and spending time with her family.
“I guess if he couldn't have her, no one was going to have her,” she said, reflecting on the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death.
Family members say they are now caring for Jackson’s four children.
