Czech police are hoping to find a hunter’s gun after the mammal snatched it away with its antlers.

The deer was scared off by a dog when it encountered a group of hunters, and then used his antlers to seize the 0.22 Hornet rifle before running away, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Cops said another hunter reported seeing the deer miles away with the rifle still hanging around its antlers.

I have heard more than one report of a hunter who, having downed his prey, laid the rifle in the animal's antlers only to discover the animal was only stunned when it abruptly recovered and took off for the horizon . . . rifle still nestled snugly in its antlers.

A 22 Hornet is a piss poor deer hunting rifle typically. The best deer hunting round can vary region by region and maybe the Czech have really small deers but in Kansas and most of Missouri you want a 270 minimum but Arkansas a 30-30 is preferable because the heavier bullet does better in the brush. In some places 12 gauge slug is only allowed due to population density.
