Roger Mincey, 40, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 24 years. Ashley Lenhart, 35, who testified against Mincey at his trial, got three-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty to lesser charges.

Both are now Tier III sex offenders with lifetime registration requirements.

Following a five-day trial in November, jurors deliberated for less than a day before finding Mincey guilty of a dozen criminal charges including rape, complicity to rape, gross sexual imposition, complicity to sexual battery and gross sexual imposition, pandering obscenity and endangering children, all felonies, along with a misdemeanor child endangering charge.
Defense attorney Michael Stepanik said Mincey, a military veteran with only a minor felony criminal record, plans to appeal.

Stepanik said he and his client respected the jury's verdict but didn't agree with it. He had argued at trial that no videos or photos of the abuse existed, that the victims' allegations were coached by adults who didn't like his client and that Lenhart got off easy.

"This case has caused ... the destruction of Mr. Mincey's family" including his relationships with his children, Stepanik said. "That's a sentence that's probably worse than anything this court can hand out."
In court, Mincey said he felt sorry for the victims in the case and that he loved his family.

"Any damage that has been caused to them, I'm sorry in any way I was involved in that," he said.
The prosecutor's office said Mincey and Lenhart discussed his sexual fantasies about children via text message.

Assistant Lorain County Prosecutor Tina Kishman said the two children should have been worrying about school and sports, but Mincey "wanted to live out his sexual desires and fantasies" and brought Lenhart into his world.

Mincey also has a history of violence, drug and alcohol abuse, she said.
Ashle Lenhart pleaded guilty in October to sexual battery, gross sexual imposition and complicity to gross sexual imposition, all felonies, and a misdemeanor child endangering chard.

Defense attorney Anthony Rich said his client cooperated with police and prosecutors, has no criminal record and is unlikely to reoffend.

He praised her for testifying against Mincey at trial, where she was cross-examined and publicly humiliated in a case that involved "nasty" and "ugly" descriptions and details of child sexual abuse, Rich said.
Lenhart said she was regretful and remorseful for her actions.

"It is not who I am in nature," she said, adding that she wants to change who she was in the past and be a better person in the future.
Kishman said Lenhart clearly was a victim of a domestic violence, with Mincey "in control" of her, but she still should go to prison for sexually assaulting one of the victims.

"She shouldn't have let this happen," Kishman said. "She shouldn't have participated."
