A Killeen woman admitted she abused her 6-week-old son after the infant was found to have 31 fractures and injuries, an arrest warrant affidavit said.

Leeellen Rios, 23, told police she squeezed her baby really tightly with her arms, pulling him by the arms and legs and placing her body weight on the baby’s extremities, the affidavit says.

Rios was arrested after a Killeen officer was sent to McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple on Feb. 5 after a nurse reported the infant’s injuries.

The nurse told the officer the baby had 31 documented fractures and injuries to his body, the affidavit says.

When confronted by authorities, police said, Rios, who’s 5-foot-4 and weighs 100 pounds, admitted to being the only person who hurt the baby and that she “needed help,” the affidavit says.

A Killeen woman who broke an infant’s bones and caused other injuries earlier this year was sentenced to prison time.

Leeellen Rios, 23, “pleaded guilty to injury to a child and was also sentenced to 15 years in prison today,” said Bell County District Attorney Henry Garza.

Rios was indicted on the felony charge on July 10 after police said she caused 31 fractures and injuries on a 6-week-old child.

Killeen police responded on Feb. 5 to the Baylor Scott & White McLane’s Children’s Hospital in Temple after a person brought the child to the hospital. Medical professionals documented 31 fractures and injuries, according to the arrest affidavit.

A nurse at the hospital told police that many of the injuries were indicative of child abuse.

When officers responded to the hospital, they met with Rios, the child’s caregiver. Rios said she caused the child’s injuries by “squeezing (the child) really tight” against her chest and by pulling the child by the arms and legs.
