A child was airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for medical treatment due to ongoing seizures after being with a belt for urinating on the floor.
The victim suffered a severe head injury, hematoma to the forehead, bruising and swelling to the inside and left side of the left ear, bruising on the left shoulder and shoulder blade, a rib fracture, and pattern-shaped marks to the abdomen and legs, according to the release.
The child was entrusted to 24-year-old Simon Truitt II, of Hope Mills.
Truitt, who is not related to the child, was charged with child abuse inflicting serious bodily injuries and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
