An Ohio father has been charged in the death of his 1-year-old child whom he left in a hot car for hours, authorities said Friday.

Landon Parrot, 19, brought his unresponsive child into the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital on Thursday, New Philadelphia Police Chief Michael Goodwin said in a statement. Police were notified of the incident.

After they collected additional information and evidence, investigators confronted Parrot and he "confessed to detectives what had happened to his son," Goodwin said.
The child was left alone in a car for five hours, while temperatures outside were around 87 degrees Fahrenheit, according to Goodwin. The father indicated to police that the act was intentional — he didn't want the child to be a "disturbance" in the house, Goodwin said.

Parrot is charged with murder, two counts of endangering children, and involuntary manslaughter.

Ladies…please consider who you choose to have sex with. If you wouldn’t want the guy to be the father of your children, just don’t do it. What a perfect example this loser is. I doubt he has a single redeeming quality. Well, maybe the fact that he chose to be honest with the police and admit premeditation and intent. But that’s about it.

Well, at least we finally got someone who admitted to doing it deliberately. The people in these cases are always like, "It was an accidennnnnnnnt." Sure, I think sometimes it IS an accident (it seems like something my spacey ass would do if I had a baby and didn't deliberately take steps to prevent the hot car death from happening, like putting a reminder note on my dashboard or setting a phone reminder), but I also think that in some of the cases, it was deliberate. I guess it's refreshing that someone actually owned up to it.

That being said, I would love for this fuck to be placed in a hot car, strapped down, so nature can have its way with him.

I’ll believe it when he pleads guilty to first degree murder.

@GoneWest exactly. He will recant his confession, claim that he was either coerced or in some mental turmoil, and will continue to be a loser. He’ll fight it, at the cost of taxpayers’ money and loved ones’ pain.

Holy crap, I just reread the post above and realized this happened in New Philadelphia? That is really close and is where my hubs is from. Very close to home…yikes.

We have friends there who tried for years to conceive and they finally did and have an adorable baby who is loved and wanted. This news has to be hitting them hard. I bet many people would have taken in this adorable little chubster, instead of seeing him die at the hands of his selfish, immature “father”.

Sad that she would allow him access to her precious child. I have to wonder if he made prior complaints about the child causing a “disturbance”? That would be the end of a relationship for me. A little life cut short by a short tempered wastrel. Be very careful who you let near your children and into your life!

@Mountaineer95

I think we can all chip in for your bail if needed.

You know, considering how some of the sad sack offenders featured on DD manage to get thousands for their Go Fund Me ploys, I bet I could scrounge up a modest GFM from you guys! Let me think…okay, I’ll cover the gas needed to get there (an impressive amount considering prices), but then I’ll need the following:

a metal storage container or unit;
a rabid animal;
the stabbiest of stabby weapons;
bail (amount will depend on the charges).

Let‘s do this!

(Not knowing who reads this and what their level of sarcasm awareness is, I’ll add my fine print):

A 20-year-old man who killed his 14-month-old son by leaving him in a hot car for five hours will be sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years.

Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Judge Michael J. Ernest told Landon S. Parrott on Tuesday that the life sentence is mandatory for the crime of murder, an unclassified felony.

Parrott pleaded guilty in court Tuesday to murder and child endangering.
Police said Kyler Parrott, died Sept. 1 after being left alone in a car for about five hours near the family's apartment in the 500 block of Ashwood Lane NW. Police Chief Michael Goodwin previously said that the toddler was left in the vehicle deliberately so he would "not be a disturbance while in the house."
Parrott spoke in court on Tuesday only to give short answers to Ernest's questions.

He will be given the chance to speak at sentencing, as will others who may speak on behalf of the victim.
