A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the attempted deliberate homicide of a police officer who authorities say was intentionally run over during a traffic stop.
The unidentified teen, who was driving a car with five female passengers, aged 13 to 16, had fled from cops in Montana numerous times on Valentine's evening.
But when officers approached the stationary car in the area of Bernard, south of Monad, at 1.12am on Saturday and began to give the six occupants instructions, 'the vehicle accelerated and drove straight at officers'.
The Billings Police Department said a 35-year-old officer, who is a six-year veteran of the department, was seriously injured during the incident
The occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle but it crashed nearby as it headed northbound.
All six children tried to escape on foot but were apprehended.
Every member of the group was from the Billings area, police said on Saturday.
The male driver was taken into custody by youth services.
