A Baltimore City mother and her fiancé have been charged in connection to the death of 6-year-old Brian Graham.
Jalesia Offer, 34, and Brandon Wheatley, 34 called emergency responders to their apartment on August 21 after the child was found unresponsive in a tub of hot water, according to a statement of charges.

During an interview with police, Offer said she was in the kitchen cooking when her fiancé took Graham into the bathroom to shower.

Offer said a short time later, she walked past the bathroom and noticed Wheatley slumped over, and Graham was unresponsive in a tub of hot water.
Charging documents state Wheatley informed police of a medical condition that causes him to fall asleep when he sits down.
After waking up Wheatley, Offer said the two pulled Graham from the water, put burn cream on his body and began performing CPR until paramedics arrived.

Despite life-saving measures, Graham died at Sinai Hospital.

A responding officer noted the child had bruising and severe burns.

The mother claimed the burns came from the hot bath and admitted punching and slapping her child earlier that week after accusing Graham of taking money from her purse, charging documents reveal.
Police said Wheatley also admitted to getting physical during "play fights."

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the 6-year-old's death was a homicide after discovering multiple fractured ribs, a lacerated liver and internal bleeding in the head and torso, records state.

Court records uncovered by WJZ show the biological father of Graham filed for custody of the 6-year-old in January of this year.
During the police investigation, an 8-year-old sibling was also found with signs of suspected child abuse.

Investigators report finding the boy with bruises on his face and was unable to lift his left arm, charging documents state.

The child was taken into the custody of Child Protective Services while an investigation is ongoing.

ok first off I would not wake up my fiance first-fuck him, I would of gone strait to getting my child out of that tub, which that big bitch would of had no problems picking up her 6 year old right out of the tub, she would not of needed any help. Secondly I would never entrust the care of my child to someone who has a so called medical condition that makes them fall asleep when they sit down (total BS), I would not even trust them to care for a pet rat if that were the case (again I find this excuse BS). What were these beasts trying to imply? That mom's penis was giving Brian a bath, penis sat down and fell asleep (medical condition of course) so that poor child drowned or something? Not only is a 6 year old highly unlikely to drown in their bath unless it was intentionally done to them by someone (murder) or they were handicapped and could not be left alone (also murder or manslaughter to me if you were that negligent) but um hello-Doctors are pretty smart and all and have all kinds of fancy equipment that will easily show how battered and beaten a person is. Did these beasts think were smarter? Most of them do, don't they? What Brian and his sibling endured must of been horrible and painful, nothing any child should ever have to endure. I am happy to hear that the 8 year old is away from them (I hope to a good family, not someone in it for the checks) but it breaks my heart that the 8 year old was rescued only because of the death of their little brother-whose face was so sweet and innocent.

RIP Brian and may your sibling at least be given the love and care now neither of you have had but whole heatedly deserve

A 6yo does not need to be bathed by anyone, they can do it themselves, someone might need to check whether they got everything clean, but they don't need to be bathed.

They think they are so smart when they make up their excuses and can't figure out how anyone could know what they really did.

The child being bathed is a blatant lie but it is similar to I was changing the diaper and the baby went linp or I was feeding the baby and then they went limp.

Baby abusers/killers always want it to look like they were doing something loving or nurturing for the child right before or around the time they are injured or die.

Is it possible the child was disabled - could be - but this is the Demon we know the magical bath was being used to revive/heal the child.

even if the child was disabled, unless paralized, he for sure would feel the burning from hot water and no way would he stay or even go in a bathtub with water that hot. that poor child must have been crying and screaming very loudly so how come mom never heard ? unless the child was held down with someone also covering his mouth and even then the trashing around in the tub, that for sure he would be doing. should have alerted the "mother" that something was wrong. in his pic he doesn't look disabled and unless he had the mentality of a 2 years old should have been taught how to wash himself..

Brandon Wheatley, a man accused in the death of 6-year-old Brian Graham, has learned his fate.

An end to a tragic story in Northwest Baltimore.
Officers arrived at the scene and found Brian's body, lying motionless in a bathtub full of hot water, which was later found to have reached temperatures of 128 degrees Fahrenheit.

Police learned Wheatley took Brian to the bathroom for a shower. Soon after, Jalesia Offer, Brian's mom and Wheatley's fiancé, found Brian unresponsive and Wheatley slumped over on the bathroom floor.
Offer woke Wheatley up and pulled Brian from the tub and called 911.
Brian later died at a local hospital, with his death being ruled as a homicide by blunt force trauma.
When being asked about the marks on Brian's body, Wheatley said he play fights with him, suggesting Brian's "light skin" made him bruise easily.

Police questioned Offer about Brian's bruises and she confessed to smacking and punching her son multiple times two days prior to his death as a form of discipline for allegedly taking money from her purse.
Offer added Wheatley would also "physically discipline" Brian after she did herself.

Even after admitting to the smacking and punching, Offer blamed Brian's bruising on play fighting with his 8-year-old brother.
Detectives spoke with the brother, who was bruised as well and could not move his left arm.

He told detectives he was injured from boxing with Wheatley.

The young boy was taken into custody by Child Protective Services.
Wheatley pled guilty to both charges and was sentenced to life, suspending all but 50 years.

Jalesi Offer was convicted of second-degree child abuse for delaying a 911 call and failing to seek immediate medical care for Graham. While the prosecution could not prove she physically harmed the children, they argued her actions contributed to the abuse. She was also ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Offer is set to receive a 25-year term of imprisonment when sentenced.

Jaleisia Offer, 35, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree child abuse for her involvement in the death of her son, six-year-old Brian Graham, who died from blunt force trauma. As part of a plea agreement, she was sentenced to 15 years, suspending all but 10 years. The sentences will run concurrently.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Videtta A. Brown expressed concern over the plea deal. However, after reviewing the law and confirming that both parties remained in agreement, Judge Brown said she was legally bound to follow through with the sentencing she had committed to in March.
Judge Brown directed pointed criticism at Offer, stating she showed no remorse.

“You are just as culpable as Mr. Wheatley,” she said, referencing Offer’s fiancé, who was found guilty of first-degree child abuse in March. “If I could give you more time, I would.”
Offer will receive credit for approximately 10 months and three days of time served, dating back to her incarceration on Aug. 23, 2024. Upon release, she must serve three years of supervised probation with conditions, including no unsupervised contact with her other son and completion of a parenting course. Any probation violations will be monitored by Judge Catherine Chen.
Tensions were high between the victim’s family and the prosecution. Several relatives said that they were not consulted about the plea agreement, despite the prosecution’s claim that the family was involved in the process. Family members expressed frustration, saying the system failed Brian and that prosecutors seemed more focused on closing the case than seeking justice.

“To them, Brian was just a number,” one relative said.
