An Augusta County woman has been indicted on several charges including 13 counts of abuse and neglect of children after a baby allegedly died in her care in October 2022.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened on Oct. 18, 2022, after first responders were notified of an unresponsive infant at a home on Stuarts Draft Highway. When crews arrived, they performed life-saving measures on the baby but were unsuccessful.

As a result, the Sheriff’s Office and Child Protective Services (CPS) launched an investigation into the baby’s death and the house being used as an at-home child care facility. During this time, the medical examiner’s office performed an autopsy, and the cause of death was ruled as “undetermined,” according to the deputies.
As the investigation continued, authorities identified the homeowners and the person in charge of the child care facility as 53-year-old Denise Stewart, of Stuarts Draft. Investigators also revealed that Stewart allegedly had 13 children in her care during the time of the infant’s death.

“Caring for this number of children violates the state mandates for the proper child-to-adult caregiver ratio,” said the Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook.
  • 13 counts of § 18.2-371.1., Abuse and neglect of children, one count for each child present in her home on October 18, 2022.
  • Two counts of § 63.2-522. Welfare Fraud
Deputies said Stewart was arrested for these indictments on Jan. 26 but was released on bond.

Seriously, how low are the standards to be a foster (?) family?
I get that it's not a profitable line of work or anything (as in some countries), but wouldn't be one, or the o, or five counted of child abuse enough to fucking stop that bitch?

For clarification, I have war he Master Chef Polish Edition like two days ago, and one of the guy's parents had like 15 additional forster children.
It didn't make me stop watching (as he obviously said that in first episode, before saying he just found out his wife was pregnant, would never think that influenced him becoming a finalist at all lol).

I gave up watching after I heard "celery carpaccio" for the twentieth time lol

Denise Stewart, of Stuarts Draft.

Stuarts Draft sounds like one of the thousands of villages that are in Midsomer County. If you know, you know!

For the edification of those who don't know.

Midsomer Murders

is a detective drama[1] set in modern-day England. The stories revolve around the efforts of Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby, and later his successor, cousin John Barnaby, to solve numerous murders that take place in the picturesque but deadly villages of the fictional county of Midsomer.

The first episode is called "The Killings At Badger's Drift".

I've seen every episode! What is it about British mysteries that's so oddly comforting? Not to mention the stately homes.

“Ava was the sweetest, funniest and smartest little girl you could ever meet,” her family wrote in her obituary. “Her big smile and contagious laugh was the first thing you would notice.”
Everywhere Ava went, her two blankets, unicorn, and BB had to go also. She has touched so many lives and her memory will never fade.

Denise Stewart was seen in Augusta County Circuit Court on Wednesday and was convicted of one count of child neglect and two counts of welfare fraud.
Stewart was the operator of the unlicensed daycare center where Ava Cloonan died. The one count of child neglect Stewart was convicted of was for the death of Cloonan who was 22 months old.
On Oct. 18, 2022, the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) responded to a call about an unresponsive infant in Stuarts Draft. The call was at Stewart’s house, where she ran an unlicensed daycare. Including Cloonan, ACSO said there were 12 children in the care of Stewart. The parents of these children were unaware of some of the things happening in Stewart’s home.
According to court documents, the dead infant was given CPR, but authorities determined the baby could no longer be resuscitated. When ACSO responded to the scene, Stewart gave law enforcement and Child Protective Services employees conflicting stories. In those documents, Stewart told ACSO there were only five children on the premises but told the CPS employee there were 12 children.
Stewart’s 12 other child abuse charges were continued to her sentencing, which will be in Augusta County Circuit Court at 1 p.m. on Nov. 18.
