Sentenced: 4MO Infant Suffers Serious Injuries “While In The Care Of Father"

A West End father is accused of physically abusing his 4-month-old child, leading to the infant’s hospitalization.

Juwan Ortez Wilson, 26, was charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.

According to a news release, Sheriff’s deputies learned the child had been admitted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after suffering serious injuries “while in the care of its father,” the release said.

Wilson was placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.

The sheriff’s office said the infant is “expected to survive.”
