A 19-year-old was arrested Tuesday in connection with injuring an infant he was babysitting last week, a spokesman with the Burnet County Sheriff said this morning.
Riley Pearson has been charged with injuring a child, a first-degree felony, Captain Dwight Hardin with the Criminal Investigations Division of the sheriff’s office said this morning.
Pearson had been babysitting the 14-month-old infant Monday morning when the child was injured, Hardin said. Details of the child’s injuries were not released.
When the baby stopped breathing, Pearson took the child to the Granite Shoals fire station, Hardin said. The baby was airlifted to Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, where he was in critical condition as of Friday afternoon. Updated information about the baby’s condition was not available this morning.
Pearson is currently being held in Burnet County in lieu of $100,000 bond.
