Jury Finds Aurora Man Guilty In His 10-Day-Old Daughter’s Death

Alexandro Delarosa, 21, has been found responsible for the death of his newborn daughter back in 2024. Following a 7-day trial, Delarosa was convicted of Child Abuse Resulting in Death.

On April 19, 2024, Aurora police officers responded to Children’s Hospital Colorado after a 10-day-old infant was admitted with severe and life-threatening injuries. Upon further examination medical professionals revealed extensive trauma, including a skull fracture, irreversible brain bleeding, too many retinal hemorrhages to count, and a fractured femur.

According to investigators, the child had been in the sole care of Delarosa and the child’s mother at the time the injuries occurred. Delarosa told investigators the injuries may have resulted from an accident while bathing the infant, but medical experts determined that the explanation was inconsistent with the severity of the injuries.

The child was placed on life support but showed minimal brain activity. After consultation with medical staff, life-sustaining measures were withdrawn. The child was pronounced deceased on May 3, 2024. An autopsy later indicated the injuries were consistent with blunt force trauma, and the manner of death was homicide.
