Pavel Antov

"Pavel Antov, a sausage tycoon and local politician in Russia, has been found deadAntov, 65, was found dead Sunday at the Hotel Sai International in Rayagada, India, after celebrating his birthday in the days prior.

The prominent millionaire reportedly fell from the window of the hotel in Rayagada, India he was staying in, according to Russian media.

One of his traveling companions, Vladimir Budanov, also died at the hotel on Friday.

Odisha Police Superintendent Vivekananda Sharma said that Budanov died of a stroke and that Antov was "depressed" following his friend's death.Antov was accused of criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin's ongoing invasion of Ukraine in June after a Russian missile assault hit the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, resulting in civilian casualties."

You may have noticed that a number of high profile Russians have perished in unusual ways lately:

-" Aleksandr Subbotin, a former top manager of Lukoil, was found dead in the basement of a Moscow residence in May after he allegedly visited a healer to cure him of hangover symptoms but instead suffered heart failure."

-"Ivan Pechorin, a managing director for the aviation industry at the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, on Sept. 12 died after reportedly falling from a speeding boat off the coast of Vladivostok."

("Having drinking parties aboard of a boat, swimming in the sea under the influence in the dark — all of that is consistent with how Russian oligarchs entertain themselves" )

-Vladimir Marugov- Killed with a crossbow in his sauna. He was sausage royalty also.

Etc.

Here's the hotel he was staying at in an obscure town in an infrequently visited state in India [Odisha] the size of Georgia, and annually sees about 2,000 foreign travelers...
I have no idea why they would choose to go there.
Average cost per night is $30.00.

Google Reviews:

Hemant D-
"... I have seen bed worms."

Bijay K. -
"If you book directly they will blackmail you on the time of checkout"

Abinash D. -
" I feel so bad, why did I come to your restaurant[?]"

Deepak K. -
"Rotten furniture. Dirty and smelly. "

Sarum K. -
" the alcohol smell is everywhere due to the bar being attached to hotel and you will be disturbed all night due to drunken people."

There are RULES for this place!
But some don't seem... friendly to a group of visiting Russian bigwigs...

Pavel Antov--Abe Froman's Russian comrade

(Sorry, y'all. I couldn't help myself. I read "sausage tycoon" and my mind went Ferris on me.)

Sausage royalty is filled with scoundrels:

And

Some of the rules seem very contradictory, under 18's not allowed but it is suitable for children. No partying, no drinking, no smoking, no foreigners, no children, no single women, no unmarried guests and all that for only $30.00 a night?  What more could you ask for?
Ah, you have now had a taste of the conundrum, the contradictory-ness that is India!
India loves rules and paperwork, the more, the better!
I don't doubt for a second that those rules aren't enforced for the most part. And hotel clerks are rarely around or paying attention. And Westerners all look alike to them. I don't think they would detect or halt someone coming over to poison or push someone.
And baksheesh, bribery, greasing of palms, is a way of life.

And $30 for a night?!
There's an $11 hotel down the street, roughly the same quality, and nobody died there this week this week. That's where I would go.
