Monroe, NC - Wear shorts? That's a rapin! At least according to the charming Pastor Bobby Leonard.
The good pastor has since apologized for his words with the usual apology buzz words and I guess it sounds like what you should say:
"As a pastor, I failed to uphold the biblical values of love and compassion. I apologize for the pain caused and commit to learning from making this foolish and sinful statement. Bible Baptist Tabernacle and I unequivocally stand on the biblical position that rape under any circumstances is a heinous crime to be punished severely and is never excusable."
We're expected to believe that as a leader of his church for over 40 years, he didn't know that rape was wrong before being called out on what are clearly his true beliefs about it? Why the fuck would you clearly NOT stand on the position that rape is a heinous crime to be punished severely until you got fucking protestors telling you so if you truly believed this? Was the Bible's position not a clear before then?
In the clip, Leonard talks about how many women wear shorts nowadays rather than dresses or pants.
“If you dress like that and you get raped, and I’m on the jury, he’s going to go free,” Leonard said. Later, he adds, “I’m right, you know, because a man’s a man.”
The Pastor has been preaching at the church for more than four decades.
