An Alabama mother faces multiple charges after five of her children tested positive for cocaine, according to Montgomery police.

Cordelia Adair, 31, allegedly exposed five of her children – her 4-year-old son, 7-year-old daughter, 9-year-old daughter, 12-year-old son and 13-year-old son – to the substance during June and September of 2018, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Montgomery Advertiser.

Adair was charged with five felony counts of chemical endangerment of a child.

“MPD (Montgomery Police Dept.) was contacted by DHR (Department of Human Resources) on Sept. 6 in reference to possible drug activity in the home,” Capt. Regina Duckett, with the Montgomery Police Dept., told the paper. “Following a joint investigation with DHR, warrants were secured against Adair. She was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force on Sept. 21 and charged.”

Alabama child welfare officials declined to comment on the case, citing privacy laws.

How? There is never an explanation of how they we're exposed.

Only thing I got to add is I remember when I read Anne of Green Gables, Anne was begging Marilla to let her change her name to Cordelia, because it was romantic sounding.

Did it read to you guys as if 5 was not all of her children, only just the 5 were exposed? Really there's room for about 8 more to shove in between 4 and 13. Other than that it seems it's just another day in Alabama.

The article says the exposure was in June and September.

I would imagine the only way they would've known about June is if the kids were tested in June and then again in September. My question is, if they were aware of this in June, why the hell did they wait until September to nab her, thus allowing the children to all test positive for it again a second time?
