Ardmore police are investigating after a baby was found in a dumpster at an Ardmore church.

The child was found Saturday afternoon around 3 pm.

Ardmore police said the child is still alive and in stable condition as of Saturday night.

Police told KXII the child was not a newborn, but a very young child. Officers are investigating and said they will release more information as they can.

If they do find the mother she should be charged with attempted murder.

She could have left the baby in the chuch or outside the front of the church.

I don't care how old the mother was they wanted that baby to die and never to be found.

agree but our "justice" system would only give those mothers a slap on the wrists cuz of sob stories they would tell in court" and yea cps would then take the child away from the only home they know and reunite them with their bio when they are done their sentence oh yea minus time serve, and time off for good behaviour...

Kieara Aliyah Lopez, 22, is also charged with abandonment of a child under 10, according to court documents from the State of Oklahoma.

The documents state that on Jan. 28, police responded to an area in Ardmore for a report of a child found in a dumpster.


On the same day, officers responded to a welfare check of a woman, who they identified as Lopez. When police brought her home, family members asked where her baby was.

Court records say Lopez then admitted she had thrown the child in the dumpster, which she led police to.

The baby was found face down at the bottom of the empty dumpster with bruises and a bloodied face, according to court documents. He was flown to OU Children’s Hospital, where he was treated and released with only minor injuries.

how can anyone hold their child, feed them , care for them for a month and then throw them in a dumpster as so much garbage i will never know .... i know that i honestly could not take deep breaths for a year (that is how long a periord for an adoption till it was finalized) till that finally day was done and then i knew nobody could ever take my kids away for me ... i held them and was sooooooooo afraid that the bios would change their minds and rip them out of my arms....... but each day i had them was a memory book being written :) and is still being written 60+ years later and i wouldn't change that for even being able to have carried my own.
