Man Charged With Torture After Urine Covered, Zip-Tied, Shivering Dog Found

On the evening of March 3, a urine covered, zip-tied and shivering dog was found near a resident’s home in the Harborcreek Township suburb. The horribly neglected dog had been deliberately abandoned…her legs tightly bound ensuring that she could not escape or defend herself. With the help of social media and tips, the Pennsylvania State Police were able to identify 63-year-old Roy King of Harborcreek as the man responsible for the dog’s dire condition.

The gravely mistreated dog, Mimi, was transported to the ANNA Shelter by a Pennsylvania State trooper. The animal welfare agency issued a heartbreaking description of the abandoned dog’s condition, writing:

She was soaked, shivering and in shock. She had been found abandoned covered with towels and a filthy blanket. Her front legs were crossed, bound by a zip tie so tight she had no circulation. Her back legs were also zip tied right above the hock area so tightly they were swollen resembling balloons about to burst. Her entire body is COVERED in urine scalding and is full of infection.

Initially, nobody knew who was responsible for this dog’s extraordinary suffering. But the grim photos and heartbreaking description detailing her condition quickly spread far and wide on social media, quickly leading to an arrest.

The ANNA Shelter said, “Someone hurt her…tortured her and caused her tremendous suffering and unimaginable agony. THAT SOMEONE is now in custody, arrested on felony charges of animal cruelty. It took some serious TEAM WORK to make this happen so swiftly and smoothly!”

Police say Roy King is the man behind Mimi’s abysmal condition; the man who caused this dog unbelievable suffering. Consider her terror from being bound and abandoned, with no means to escape. Look at the photos showing her urine scalded and swollen skin. See her haunted eyes. Imagine how long she has been living in agony.

King has been charged with Torture (Felony 3), Aggravated Cruelty to Animals (Felony 4), Cruelty to Animals (Misdemeanor 2), and Neglect of Animals (Misdemeanor 3). He is currently being held in the Erie County Prison awaiting preliminary arraignment. Public information release report

Roy King was placed in the Erie County Prison originally on $2,500 bond. But according to court paperwork, it was increased to $50,000 due to the severe and extensive injuries to the victim, allegations of abandonment and the fact that the victim may die.

Mimi is being treated by a critical care specialist who said the next three to five days will reveal how well she’s able to recover.

Hi, everybody! Today was a big day for me! I WALKED...slowly and carefully cause my legs and feet are still pretty sore...BUT I WALKED ON MY OWN and got to enjoy the sunshine and beautiful warm weather! For the first few days it was uncertain if I would lose my paws or ever be able to walk again but thanks to the amazing doctors here taking care of me and all of YOU, my #ANNAFAMILY, sending your love, prayers and healing energy...I AM NOT GIVING UP...so thanks for not giving up on me. Funny thing is, if I go to Pennsylvania to get the dog, I may as well swing past Bestie's place in Florida and get the cat from her too. The cat's name is Misty, which I plan on merging to Molly/Mali because I am NOT having a grey cat named Misty in perpetually rainy Oregon!

my mis't is so named cuz i called her miss trouble lmao now she answers more to t.t. for double trouble of course lmao.... i have had lots of fur babies over my long live but my bella (passed away from old age) and t.t. are the sweetest most loveable , loyal and loving fur babies ever... i still say anyone that abuse defenseless being , humans or animals) should get the same treatment they inflicted on them... if you don't like of love kids or pets, can't love and take care of seniors or physically or mentally handicapped people don't have them or choose a job/career that involves them in your daily lives...... know your limits and asked for help if you can't manage there is no shame in that at all...
