An infant in Tennessee died after their foster grandmother reportedly left them in a hot car.
The 7-month-old child, who has not been identified, was found unresponsive in the car around 4 p.m. Wednesday outside a library in Monterey. In a press release, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, but authorities believe the baby had been in the car for hours with the windows sealed and the engine off.
WKRN reports that the child's foster grandmother was supposed to take the child to day care that day. When the baby didn't arrive, day care staff reached out to the infant's foster mother, who reached out to the grandmother. The grandmother then reportedly realized she hadn't taken the baby to day care before going to the library.
