A mother charged with murdering her two-year-old daughter ordered photos with the child she allegedly beat to death appearing as an angel at her grave.

Jeanie Ditty, 23, of Spring Lake North Carolina, who has been an active soldier at Fort Bragg since 2013, has been accused of neglecting and killing Macy Grace, and faces the death penalty if convicted.

Police were called when the youngster was taken to hospital covered in bruises and with life-threatening injuries consistent with child abuse, two days before she died on December 4, 2015.

Exactly a month after Macy Grace's death, Ditty went to Pennsylvania photographer Sunny Jo and asked for it.

Mr Jo obliged, as he first thought he was helping a grieving mother, and has completed hundreds of similar requests in the past as part of his One More Time series.

Then, when he asked Ditty how the girl died, she said the youngster had choked on a banana when she had a stomach ache.

He told the Daily Mail Online that Ditty showed him a photo of Macy Grace she wanted to use. She then said she wanted a picture of them reading her favorite book, The Giving Tree, together.

Mr Jo said he could work with it, and started taking the pictures. After finishing the shoot, he decided not to charge Ditty because of the tragic circumstances.

But he then found out she was arrested.

'People started sharing the story on Facebook,' he told Daily Mail Online. 'I asked myself: "How could she do this?"

'I then felt disgusted by what I had done. People started calling me a mockery and I started to lose sleep over what happened.

'I look like the bad guy, even though initially did it to help out a grieving mother. It blew up in my face.

'It's hard knowing your work is attached to something so brutal.

Despite the negative response, the photographer decided to share the pictures after sending all of them to a detective looking into the case.

'The reason I am open and talking is because this girl was killed brutally and she doesn't have a voice.

'This whole thing is a tribute for Macy Grace.'

When the court case is done with, he has insisted he will delete the images, but plans to replace them with a new photo of Macy Grace.

Mr Jo started taking the pictures five years ago, when his father died of cancer.

After the funeral, he took one of the images home and photo shopped his late dad standing beside him, and it made him feel happy.

'It is a way for people to see their loved ones for the last time,' he said. 'Even though they aren't there, loved ones know they are watching.'

Ditty is charged with first-degree murder and negligent child abuse and inflicting serious bodily injury for the death of Macy.

Her boyfriend Zachary Earl Keefer has also been charged with the same counts Thursday.

In their first court hearing Monday, a judge told them they face the death penalty or life in prison if they are convicted.

The pair live in an apartment complex in the 500 block of Village Lake Court in Spring Lake, North Carolina.

Police were called to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on December 2 of last year in relation to an unresponsive child.

The young child was then transferred to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill after which police determined her injuries were inflicted in the 24 hours after the she was admitted to the medical center.

Fayetteville police obtained warrants for charging Ditty and Keefer the next day. Ditty was then arrested last Thursday evening and is now being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center along with Keefer, both without bond, police said. Their next court date is April 14

District Attorney Billy West told ABC 11 : 'It's a tough case, you know this child did not die of natural causes.

'And it's heart-wrenching to think that this could happen to a young child this way and we are going to do everything we can to see that justice is done in this case.'

Good question. My guess is they wanted to get all the evidence they could against these assholea before any arrests since it's a death penalty case

I could be wrong but to me it makes sense

So, if she died in December, why weren't they arrested until last week?

They had to wait for the results of the autopsy, according to one of the articles.
They (the autopsy results) were released Wednesday and she was arrested Thursday.

Why is the baby's grave in the middle of no where?
[doublepost=1459368362,1459368265][/doublepost]NVM, I scrolled up and saw some other graves. They must have been edited out of the pic with her daughter in it.

Anyone else notice, same flowers - different outfits? Did she bring fucking wardrobe changes to a photo shoot at her kids grave? CUNT.

I think the photos were taken on different days. One is overcast sky, one is sunny sky, different hairstyles. But yes, it is still all about the "grieving mother".

Because photographs don't cry, keep you up late at night, or make noise.

Another worthless, self-absorbed cunt.

Go straight to fucking Hell.

They were just charged as the autopsy results were finally released to the police. Also in regards to this mother...she had a GoFundMe page to collect money after Macy passed. So she profited from the death of her daughter in other ways. That won't do well for her at trial. I hope we hear more.

As if the fact she beat that baby to death was not enough....she posed for glamour shots.

Total cunt. Hate her so much.

This makes me so sad.

You are right. It is hard work to be a parent. And you sometimes want to cry while curled up in a ball because you haven't slept in days and you have nobody to help. I spent many moments thusly.

But big people do not beat on tiny people. And if they do, they forfeit their "Human Card".

Woooooow. The narcissism is strong with this one. Perhaps it's just me judging her this way due to the allegations, but in her FB photos there seems to be something detached and blank behind those eyes. Even when she's fixed up nicely and smiling, the eyes aren't... Something just doesn't feel quite right. Is it just me?

Sociopathic tendencies perhaps? Might explain not only the crime, but also the lack of general "sad vibe" (though I'll try to reserve concrete opinions since everyone grieves differently).

Those photoshoped photos... Yikes! While beautiful and sweet under different circumstances, in light of the accusations they strike me as utterly bizaare and unsettling. I don't know about you guys, but I don't think I'd even be capable of holding it together enough at the grave site to have photos taken, let alone looking that polished in them. Shoot, even her boots look like she bought them just for the occasion, no wear on the soles at all. Purely conjecture of course, but I'd be curious to know.

I can't believe folks are harassing and bashing the photographer who didn't know anything at the time. I guess it's true what they say... no good deed goes unpunished. :meh:

I wish the death penalty wasn't so nicely done. a last meal.. then a needle of death

They need a REAL death penalty.

One that matches the same way they did to their victim

Last meals shouldn't be a part of the death penalty at all.. who thought of that anyway but I'm not going to complain anymore

I hope she does get the DP
And none of the long ridiculous appeals process.

I have to admit, I find those pictures of parents with their ghostly loved ones included, creep me out badly. I can appreciate that they may be of great comfort to some people, but personally, they make me extremely uncomfortable for some reason, and kind of seem tacky too. I know that's not very nice, but I can't help how I feel about them when I see them.

As for this woman - seeing her stage her shots and seeing this ghostly imprint of the young daughter she is up on murder charges for, well, it creeps me out beyond belief. I just hope, that wherever that little girl may be, that she is happy and at peace, no longer hurting, or afraid, or living in fear of her 'mother'.

You know, I just got to thinking . . . the reason I keep my loved ones close, hug them when they're near, and apologize to them when I'm wrong is so that I don't have to commission some creepy-ass photoshops where their ghosts are pretending to enjoy my company after they're gone.

They're creepy and trashy as can be. Prob the most low class, low brow, trashiest, weirdest way to memorialize a deceased loved one.

I thought only tactless hicks in the south did it. Quite surprised to see it nationwide.

Well the girl doesn't exist anymore, at all. So yeah, the fear/pain is gone, cuz the kids gone, forever lost to the void of nothingness.

"and has received awards including an Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,"

hhahhahahahahah. I really wish "journalists" would do a little homework(and i do mean little, cuz a 2 second google search would suffice in this case) before posting military accolade related shit. You know how you "earn" these "awards"? You serve in the military. Yep, that's it. If anything, the fact that she's been in for 3 years yet has only gotten those 3 ribbons shows what a worthless fucking waste she is as a military member. Yet the way this story is written, ignorant readers will think it's a case of some formerly respectable vet being involved in an awful crime. Nope.

"“People have been telling me I made a mockery of a child’s death,” he said."

Well, he did. Nobody in their right mind can look at those pics and not think "wow what a fucking joke, these are trashy and awful".

This might be a little wrong of me to say but that picture should have had the mom next to her grave with.the Angel picture looking at the mom In sadness and her expressions of why did you do this to me mommy.

Not this way.. I mean only if she didn't murder her child would I have not said what i said and been ok with the picture as is

I think it should have had the mom modeling jail stripes and standing next to a measurement strip.

Trashy or not (and I tend to agree), you're not taking into consideration what grief can do. Many people who might find these photos ridiculous under normal circumstances could very well find them extremely comforting in the desperation of grief. If it helps someone feel better, then I'm all for it, even if it isn't my personal taste.

Very intentional on the part of the journalist no doubt. Integrity is not one of their strong suits.

I'm beginning to see why you're always so negative. Must suck to truly believe that.
