The Greater Birmingham Humane Society and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office are working to identify a severely injured ten month old puppy and find the person who abused her. The puppy was dumped at the GBHS facility in Woodlawn on December 10th in the early morning hours.
Her fur was painted green and matted and she was malnourished. Gabby as they named her was rushed to the Critical Care Clinic. There staff uncovered the severity of her injuries. She had been muzzled so tightly that the straps cut into her flesh, rotting her teeth. Gabby also had a severe back wound.
There were also indications of urine burns on her paws and evidence she had been confined in a small crate due to atrophy in her legs. GBHS believes she suffered repeated abuse and torture over an extended period of time.
"Someone dropped Gabby either over the Woodlawn facility's locked gate or pushed her under the gate, so I know someone out there cared enough about what was happening to her to try to get her help," said GBHS' CEO Allison Black Cornelius. "We want to make sure anyone that lived with Gabby is safe so we need someone to come forward and tell us the entire story," Black Cornelius added in a post on the agency's webpage.
