Gavin Tyler Bell was arrested after his two-month-old was believed to have been shaken or abused at his Grand Dunes home, causing serious injuries, according to the North Myrtle Beach Police Department.
Gavin Tyler Bell, 22, was charged with unlawful conduct towards a child on Thursday.

On April 10, police responded to the Grand Strand Emergency Room in reference to a potential child abuse case. After speaking with Horry County police officers, a DSS caseworker, and the child's parents, it was discovered that the child was airlifted to MUSC Hospital and had a subdural hematoma and fractured ribs, reports said.

The mother said that on March 31, Bell had performed CPR on the child after she had a seizure and stopped breathing. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance and was discharged shortly after, reports said.
The mother then added that on April 8, the child had another similar seizure-like activity, but her breathing did not stop. The child's primary care physician told the parents to keep a close eye on the child.

Just two days later, the child reportedly began gasping for breath, so they again rushed her to the hospital. Medical staff then learned that the 2-month-old had a brain bleed, broken ribs and bruising to the back and eye.

An arrest warrant says that Bell sent a photo of the child's injuries to the mother and "made an admission via text message to her that he had caused the injuries."
