A Yuma mother has been formally charged for the murder of her 2 year old son, Kano Aguerro.
20-year-old Angelina Vasquez and her boyfriend, 23-year old Miguel Garcia are facing the same 3 felony charges.

That's first-degree murder, child abuse, and the abandonment or concealment of a dead body, all three charges tied to domestic violence.
We also learned that investigators believe this all happened sometime between March 7th and May 30th of this year.

I spoke with the younger brother of the boy's mom, Hector Vasquez, who recalls the last time he saw his nephew.

"Halloween. He was dressed up as Spiderman. He was happy when seen me and my daughter. I just really miss him," he stated.
He says he and his sister had a tough upbringing but makes it clear he is not defending his sister's actions.

"I lost my sister and my nephew Kano. My sister is not a victim and she has whatever comes her way. I hope the judge gives her what she deserves," Hector explained.

A Yuma father is speaking out after the body of his 2-year-old son was found inside a home last week. It led to the arrest of the child’s mother and her boyfriend, who are now facing murder charges.
Ethan Aguerro said he had been trying for weeks to see his son, Kano Aguerro, but contact with the boy’s mother, 20-year-old Angelina Vasquez, became increasingly difficult. He said the last time he saw Kano was in March.

Aguerro says Vasquez’s boyfriend, 23-year-old Miguel Garcia, told him that he would finally be allowed to see his son. Aguerro said Garcia never showed up and he knew something was wrong.

“Things were not adding up and he was making excuses,” said Aguerro. Instead, police arrived at Aguerro’s door later on Friday to inform him that Kano was missing. On that same day, investigators discovered the child’s remains
“I couldn’t believe it, I never thought Angelina or her boyfriend could do something like this,” he said.

According to the Yuma Police Department, the discovery was made during a welfare check at the child’s home. Officers arrested Vasquez and Garcia. Both are now facing charges of first-degree premeditated murder and abandonment or concealment of a dead body.
Aguerro described Kano as a joyful little boy who loved everybody. He says the loss is devastating and wishes Vasquez had asked for help before things escalated.
