Clarksville Man Indicted On Murder, Child Abuse Charges In Death Of 2MO Boy

A man is facing charges of murder and child abuse in connection to the death of a two-month-old boy in Clarksville in September 2023, according to the Clarksville Police Department.

Police said on Sep. 10, 2023, the Department of Children’s Services notified CPD of a suspected child abuse case at a home on Baltimore Drive. Detectives responded to Vanderbilt Hospital for the initial investigation.

Three days later, a two-month-old child died as a result of his injuries and the case was transferred to the Special Operations Homicide Unit, CPD explained. The detective in charge presented evidence in this case to a grand jury in July 2024.

Shortly after, an indictment was returned for 51-year-old Vincent Edward Coleman on charges of first-degree murder in perpetration of a crime and aggravated child abuse.

The man has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail and is awaiting trial.
