Chance Lee Locken, 37, throwing a baby in the air on the left.
In February of 2018, the son of William Humphries, 77, found him deceased in his Redding, CA home living room recliner, a .44-caliber pistol in his left hand.
However:
-Mr. Humphries was right handed.
-He was shot with a .22 caliber revolver.
-The .44 caliber pistol had not been fired.
-Humphries' Isuzu Rodeo was missing.
-There were 22 caliber casings strewn about.
-There were signs of a violent struggle.
-The house was ransacked.
-Humphries beloved 16 year old dog had been shot and dragged outside.
Meanwhile...
Chance Lee Locken, 37, called police dispatchers and told them:
-He had been drugged and had awoken in an unfamiliar residence where there was a dead man in a recliner.
The night before, Locken had been dropped off at an intersection close to Humphries home because he wanted to:
-"go to sleep in the woods to clear his mind."
Officers went to Locken's home and found Humphries' Isuzu, his belongings, and Locken was wearing Humphries' clothes.
Officers found the failed campfire Locken said he'd tried to start and beard oil he'd swiped from his brother where he said he'd camped.
He was arrested, but found incompetent to stand trial.
The good news? He was returned to competency and stood trial, and on March 15th 2022, sentenced to 65 years.
He has a criminal history going back to 2003, including a child abuse conviction in 2008 for which he was sentenced to two years.

His brother wrote a legal site in 2018:
