An Ohio man is accused of forcing a 12-year-old he was watching to endure "ice bath" punishments Saturday before authorities say the boy experienced cardiac arrest and died.

The 12-year-old was identified Monday afternoon as Jadako Taylor of Akron, according to a release from Gary Guenther, chief investigator with the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy was performed but the cause of death is pending investigation.
A criminal complaint made against McCants states that Jadako was in his care on Saturday from about 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. During that time, McCants allegedly forced Jadako to do two "ice baths" or "cold plunges" starting at 5 a.m. that lasted about 45 minutes with "short breaks of pushups and other physical activity in between activity." The complaint states there was a second round of this consisting of a 30-minute "ice bath" and another round of physical activity.
"These incidents were use as corporal punishment," the complaint stated.

After the second round of "punishment," Jadako began to "vomit and seize," the complaint said.

At the time of his death, Jadako's core body temperature was 74 degrees Fahrenheit, the complaint said. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the normal body temperature for a child of any age is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
