Sentenced: Ashville Man Charged For Video Showing Him Raping Young Girl

State police in Cambria County say an Ashville man is accused of raping a young girl after investigators discovered a video of him performing sex acts with the child, according to a criminal complaint.

Troopers say 38-year-old Michael Sollenberger faces numerous charges, including, photographing/filming a sex act, child rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault, according to court documents.

Authorities say on June 10th, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a report from Yahoo that one of its accounts had uploaded over 120 images of apparent child pornography.

Authorities say Sollenberger admitted to taking naked photographs of a young female, between the ages of 8 and 10-years-old, which began approximately two years ago.

Investigators say he also confessed to touching the young girl and performing sex acts with her, and that he recorded a video of one of the acts.

A better sentence would be to have him tied to his cell bed and let other inmates have deviant sexual intercourse with him while it is being recorded.

A resident of Ashville, Pennsylvania, was sentenced in federal court to a total of 440 months (36 years) in prison, to be followed by a lifetime term of supervised release, on his convictions for production and possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced today.

United States Senior District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Michael Joseph Sollenberger, 41, on March 19, 2024.

According to information presented to the Court, from February 2018 to February 2019, and from January 2019 to January 2020, in the Western District of Pennsylvania, Sollenberger produced images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. In addition, in and around June 2020, Sollenberger possessed images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
