Andrew Lynn Garza has been charged with capital murder in the death of his newborn son nearly a year after the infant was found dead in Royse City.
The 20-year-old father is accused of killing three-week-old Jonah Jesus Garza on Nov. 24, 2024.
The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office responded to the reported death of an infant at a residence on Mesa Court in Royse City. The child was transported to Children’s Hospital in Dallas where the he was later pronounced deceased. An autopsy was conducted by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

That charge stemmed from an October 2023 incident that occurred while he was living in unincorporated Royse City. He was booked into jail on July 1, 2024 with bond set at $150,000 and released the following month.
Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances of the child’s death but the case was investigated over the past nine months before the indictment was secured.

U.S. Marshals arrested a man this week and charged him with murder in connection with the 2024 death of an infant in North Texas, officials say.
The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Andrew Garza, 20, at an apartment complex in Garland Aug. 27 on a charge of capital murder of a person under 10 years of age, according to the Hunt County Sheriff's Office. Garza was taken to the Hunt County Detention Center, where he's being held on a $1,250,000 bond, records show.

So he was released and on the run.... He never should have been given bail.
