German police have found the bodies of five children in an apartment in the western town of Solingen and their mother, who is suspected of their murder, tried to kill herself, police said on Thursday.

Police received a tip-off that five children were dead in the apartment in Solingen, police spokesman Stefan Weiand said.

"Unfortunately, this proved to be the case," Weiand added. "At the moment, we assume that the 27-year-old mother was responsible."
"The mother threw herself in front of a train in Duesseldorf and is badly injured. At the moment she is being treated in hospital," he added. "There is one more child that survived."
Earlier, mass-selling newspaper Bild reported in its online edition that the children's grandmother had called police to tell them that her daughter had killed five of her children and was out of her home with a further child.
The police then found the dead children, aged 1, 2, 3, 6 and 8, Bild said, adding that a further child - an 11-year-old son - was found unharmed at the grandmother's home.

I doubt this is a German citizen.

The poor surviving child! Losing 5 siblings and your mother to prison because she murdered them is something that will haunt you until you die.
So did she take the 11 year old son to grandmas and then tell what happened? I wonder why she didn't kill him, too? At first I thought he may have survived because he was gone, but it says she was with him at least at some point. Did he see the murders? The bodies? Oh man. I don't know what would be worse, witnessing the murders and/or the scene after OR being at grandmas when it happened and knowing if you'd been there you might have been killed too.

Maybe she is young in 11-year-old just stayed with Grandma from the beginning. I've seen that in real life many times actually. Mom just might not have had the 11-year-old regularly.

Her *ex not extra
So it wasn't even a cheater situation. Not that that would in any way excuse it, but it seems more common than not, especially if the woman was kind of pressured into having more kids, they snap when the man steps out.
This sounds like it was just to hurt him. Make him regret leaving, revenge for not loving her by killing what he loved most.
She deserves every second of that life sentence, if not more.
