A 1-year-old girl was killed, and her two older siblings were hospitalized, after a domestic stabbing incident involving their father at their Virginia Beach home triggered an Amber Alert that ended in a police pursuit and deadly crash in Maryland.

Virginia State Police issued the alert after 5-year-old Zayir Plummer, 7-year-old Zayin Plummer, and 16-month-old Zariyah Plummer were taken by their father, 36-year-old Dana Demetrius Plummer.
Police say prior to the abduction, Plummer stabbed the mother of the children and another young girl. He then took the children and fled in a black 2024 Honda Passport SUV with temporary plates.

Virginia State Police officials say they received a call from a tipster who recognized the vehicle. They began pursuing the vehicle just after 8:45 a.m. Thursday after spotting it on northbound Interstate 95 in Fairfax County.
Officials say Plummer refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued north onto I-495 into Maryland, where Plummer lost control and crashed in Camp Springs.

The crash injured the three children and the driver. All were transported to nearby hospitals. The 1-year-old girl was flown to a trauma center with critical injuries. She later died. The others remain hospitalized.

Plummer was charged with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, three counts of parental abduction, four counts of contributing to delinquency of a minor, and domestic assault.
