A stepfather faces multiple charges following the death of a child in Mount Airy, according to a Surry County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Gary Lynn White Jr., 41, of Mount Airy, is the child’s stepfather. He has been charged with:

• first-degree murder
• felony child abuse
• assault on a female
• domestic assault

Authorities revealed that the cause of 14-year-old Aydan Krishaun Dodson death was blunt force trauma.

A mother is now charged in connection with the death of her 14-year-old son in Mount Airy.

Earlier this month, the Surry County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Aydan Dodson’s death. Investigators said he died of blunt force trauma.

The child’s mother, Kimberly White, appeared in court on Monday and was charged with first-degree murder and felony child abuse in connection to his death.
