The 3-year-old brought to the hospital with a brain injury and bruising all over his body remains in critical condition, Calcasieu Sheriff’s Office officials say.

Bond has been set at $1.25 million apiece for the boy’s father, Tyler Nathanael Laborde, and his stepmother, Jessica Paige Matthews.

“There was not an area of the body that was untouched,” Calcasieu Sheriff Tony Mancuso said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon.

Mancuso said detectives began investigating after the hospital alerted the Sheriff’s Office that the child was being brought into surgery with a brain injury.

Mancuso said detectives began investigating after the hospital alerted the Sheriff’s Office that the child was being brought into surgery with a brain injury. Mancuso said the injuries are severe enough that it’s uncertain whether the child will survive.

The child’s injuries were in different stages of healing, meaning the bruises had occurred over an extended period of time, according to information sent out by the Sheriff’s Office after the news conference.

“I don’t know that there’s any form of justice that can be done to these two people, in my opinion,” Mancuso said. “That’s just me, as Tony Mancuso, not as sheriff. As sheriff, we have to rely on our system and it’s the best system in the world.”

humanoid monsters without a soul and sorry but to me hitting and throwing anything means you want to break it or know you are taking a chance that it will break.. hitting with any weapon be it fist or object you mean to kill because any hits can and in lots of cases will kill , so no "i didn't mean to kill" my child excuses.. you choose to hit or throw a human being you mean to kill or take a chance that you might kill said human and more so a child that is so much smaller than you or elderlies that are without defense .. grrrrrrrrrrr when will our so call legal system figure that one out it doesn't take a mental giant..
