The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide following the death of a 1-year-old child.
On April 30, Yadkin County deputies came to assist in a reported medical emergency involving a 1-year-old child in Hamptonville. The child was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

As the child was getting treatment, investigators found evidence of “non-accidental trauma” the child had previously suffered and launched an investigation with the Yadkin County Department of Social Services with help from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Investigators say that the child died as a result of their injuries. The medical examiner confirmed the investigators’ findings and the child’s death has been ruled a homicide.
