A principal encouraged 18 students to participate in a "makeshift child fight club" that involved the children physically and verbally assaulting a 13-year-old.

Dr. Mary Morrison, 50, principal of The Delta Institute for Developing the Brain was arrested in April 2025 after a parent contacted the sheriff's office to file a report that her 13-year-old son had been "abused, both mentally and physically, at the ENGAGE School and The Delta Institute for Developing the Brain," according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by People.

During the investigation, deputies allegedly obtained "audio and video footage from the camera located inside the school." Upon reviewing the recordings, they reportedly found evidence of Morrison interacting with the 13-year-old victim.

Investigators said that the video showed that Morrison "instructed the juvenile child to sit on the floor while being surrounded on the outside by a circle" of 18 students. Morrison was heard "telling other students to put their hands on the juvenile child located in the center of the circle" and was "seen putting her hands on the child as well as hitting the child with an unknown object," per the affidavit.

The abuse continued for 30 minutes, during which time Morrison reportedly "berated the child the whole time as she watched many of the other students sitting around the circle punch, kick and choke the juvenile victim, sitting inside the circle."

Morrison even reportedly high-fived another student and expressed her "pleasure" with students that choked the victim.
