The incident began just after 4 pm. on April 11, 2019, when Jimenez's Honda Civic was rear-ended in the 10000 block of San Jose Boulevard by a Chevrolet Suburban driven by 60-year-old James David Robinson, the Highway Patrol said. She followed him as he drove off, then Robinson had a second crash with another vehicle near Interstate 295.
Jiminez called 911 as she chased the SUV, despite instructions from Sheriff’s Office and fire department dispatchers to pull over and wait for first responders, the Highway Patrol said.
She failed to adhere to instructions, "continuing to drive recklessly and endangering the lives of other drivers and individuals," the Highway Patrol report said. "Her actions indicate acts imminently dangerous to another without regard for human life."
The Suburban continued across the Buckman Bridge with the Civic weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed, Sgt. Dylan Bryan said at the time. Both vehicles exited onto Roosevelt Boulevard, hitting each other several times. Robinson then drove through the median, hitting a pickup truck in the oncoming lane before flipping and hitting two more SUVs. Another two vehicles were damaged in the multi-car wreck, and Robinson was declared dead at the scene."
