STEVENSON RANCH, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A young girl died and another was critically injured after their mother crashed twice while driving with no clothes on Monday in Stevenson Ranch.

The CHP says the woman driving the car was naked when she got into two separate collisions.

The woman's two daughters, ages 6 and 2, were in the back seat. Good Samaritans removed them from the wreckage just before it caught on fire, officials said.

"She was in the middle console area with no seat belt," said Bryan Timmerman, one of several good Samaritans who responded to the scene. "She was completely nude, no clothes."

An off-duty nurse performed CPR on the 6-year-old girl.

"She wasn't responsive, she was barely breathing," said Jelene Golbolakh. "She was foaming at the mouth and turning blue."

Good Samaritan Walter Gomez tried to console the 2-year-old.

The first crash happened in the area of The Old Road south of Pico Canyon Road just before 9:45 a.m.

Investigators say the woman continued driving after the first accident, then ran a red light and struck a power pole at the intersection of The Old Road and Pico Canyon. Witnesses say she was driving fast and did not appear to make any attempt to slow down.

The 6-year-old girl later died. The 2-year-old was initially listed in critical condition and later was said to be stable.

"I have kids," Timmerman said. "It was rough. Because we lost the 6 year old."

The woman is in stable condition.

It is not clear yet why the woman wasn't wearing clothes. Investigators are looking into whether alcohol was a factor in the crashes.

A 6-year-old girl was killed and her toddler sister was badly injured after their mother lost control of the car they were in and crashed into a light post in the Stevenson Ranch area Monday morning, California Highway Patrol said.

Witnesses saw a woman driving a 2019 Subaru recklessly on The Old Road with her children in the car when she ran a red light, veered into oncoming traffic and struck a power pole near Pico Canyon Road at about 9:45 a.m., according to CHP Sgt. Zachary Emmons and a news release from the agency.

The release says the vehicle also smashed into a tree before coming to rest.

The car then burst into flames, and the woman and children got out with the help of good Samaritans, CHP said.

Bryan Timmerman told KTLA he witnessed the crash and pulled the mother from the wreckage first.

“She was completely naked," Timmerman said. "And there were no clothes anywhere.”

CHP identifies the woman as a 31-year-old from Bakersfield. Officers earlier said initial investigation indicated the woman may have been naked when she got out of the car, and other witnesses told KTLA her clothing may have been ripped or damaged.

Another good Samaritan who helped rescued the children said “they were in really bad condition.”

Both were taken to a hospital in critical condition before the older girl was pronounced dead. After earlier describing the deceased child as a boy, CHP said both children were girls.

The mother and 2-year-old remained hospitalized with major injuries Monday evening, according to CHP.

Timmerman said the vehicle looked to be going about 60-70 mph before it crashed. After, video from the scene showed it fully engulfed in flames.

CHP Capt. Ed Krusey said the fire consumed most of the interior of the vehicle, making it harder to determine if the 6- and 2-year-old children were properly restrained in their seats.

However, Timmerman says he doesn’t think the children were properly restrained and described having to cut them out of oddly fastened seats. He also said it looked like the mother had "just piled a bunch of stuff in the back, because it had all fallen over onto the kids.”

A 2-year-old girl has died two days after a fiery crash in Stevenson Ranch that left her 6-year-old sister dead and their mother -- who ran naked from the scene -- hospitalized with major injuries, authorities said.

The younger child's death was confirmed by a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol's Newhall office. Her name was not immediately released.

Her sister, Kathleen Lopez, succumbed to her injuries on the day of the crash and was identified Wednesday by the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

The mother, who has not been publicly identified, was listed in stable condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, the Highway Patrol said. No citations or arrests were immediately announced.
